Cookie policy.
No cookies, no trackers, no banner. This page lists the three small preferences the site keeps in your browser and the anonymous visit counter, and nothing else.

The short version
piergorelli.com doesn't set cookies and doesn't track you, here or anywhere else.
That's why there is no cookie banner. Visits are counted anonymously, without cookies. The site also remembers a couple of display choices in your own browser so it looks the way you left it. That data stays on your device and is never sent to me or to anyone else.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to keep and send back on every visit. They are often used to recognise you across pages and sites, which is how most tracking works.
Local storage and session storage are similar spaces in your browser, but their content is never sent to the server automatically. Only the page's own script can read it, on your device.
European and Spanish law (the ePrivacy Directive and article 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI) treat all of these the same way: storage that is strictly needed for a service you asked for, like remembering a setting you chose, doesn't require consent. Anything used for analytics or advertising does.
What this site stores
Three keys, all functional, all on your device.
| Key | Where | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
pg-theme | Local storage | Remembers light or dark mode, if you switch it. | Until you clear it |
pg-accent | Local storage | Remembers the accent colour you picked. | Until you clear it |
pg-preloaded | Session storage | Plays the intro only once per visit. | Until you close the tab |
None of them contains personal data or an identifier. The first two are only written if you actually change the theme or the accent.
Third parties
One, and it sets no cookies: the visit counter described below.
Fonts, images and all other scripts are served from piergorelli.com itself. There are no embedded videos, maps, social buttons or chat widgets that could set their own cookies. The hosting provider (Netlify) delivers the pages without setting cookies; the technical data it receives is described in the privacy policy.
Links to LinkedIn, GitHub or other sites take you to services with their own cookie policies, which apply once you are there.
Analytics
A cookieless counter tells me how many people visit and which pages they read. It can't tell me who you are.
The site uses Umami (Umami Cloud, by Umami Software, Inc.). Its script sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser's storage. For each page view it records the page, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type and country. Your IP address is used only to work out the country and is not stored. Visits are grouped with a hash that changes regularly, so they can't be linked to you or followed across other sites.
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the counter doesn't run at all. Blocking cloud.umami.is with a content blocker has the same effect and doesn't change anything else on the site.
How to clear it
You can delete the stored preferences at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. The site keeps working exactly the same, it just forgets your theme and accent.
Private or incognito windows discard everything when you close them.
